Abstract
The meeting aimed at facilitating in-depth discussion about the nature of interdisciplinarity, considering perspectives from both disciplinary and interdisciplinary standpoints. By focusing on measurement techniques, the meeting highlighted the academic and institutional aspects that shape its implementation. Controversies regarding the quantifying tools involved the transformation of knowledge and disciplinarities, publication, and career progression. Participants addressed the processes needed to quantify interdisciplinarity, then explored the concept based on interdisciplinary research situations. Building on international experiences as well as on science and technology studies, the presentations emphasized the need to consider interdisciplinarity beyond disciplinary frameworks. Moreover, there is a demand for an extension of institutional arrangements to meet the specific needs of interdisciplinarity practitioners, both in professional and academic aspects. The meeting ended with participants agreeing to the need for reintegrating practical qualification challenges within a broader, reflective, and critical approach.
