Cette réflexion concerne deux programmes de recherche : Environnement, Vie et Sociétés du CNRS (1992-1997), Comité « Systèmes écologiques et actions de l’homme », puis le programme européen Tropandes (Fertility management in the tropical andean mountains: agroecological bases for a sustainable fallow agriculture, INCO-DC DGXII, ERBIC18CT98-0263, 1998-2002), en cours de valorisation, qui réunissait sur deux sites, l’altiplano central bolivien et le paramo vénézuélien, des pédologues, écologues et agronomes boliviens, vénézuéliens et européens (Espagne, Pays-Bas, France).
