Think forward to act now! The Agrimonde foresight: combining foresight and research

Résumé

La prospective Agrimonde explore les futurs possibles des agricultures et des alimentations du monde en 2050. Elle cherche à déceler les questions fondamentales auxquelles la recherche agronomique sera confrontée, afin de fournir au Cirad et à l'Inra les moyens d'anticiper et de préparer l'avenir en termes de dispositif et d'orientation de la recherche publique, comme en termes de positionnement stratégique au niveau international. Alliant approches quantitatives et qualitatives, elle oriente les questionnements sur les choix à assumer dès aujourd'hui par rapport aux enjeux de l'alimentation (et de ses liens avec la production), de la régulation des échanges internationaux, de l'organisation des approvisionnements et des accès aux marchés, ainsi que des orientations techniques et de leurs conséquences sociales et spatiales.

Abstract

By exploring possible futures of the world's agricultural and food systems up to 2050, the Agrimonde foresight seeks to identify the fundamental challenges that agricultural research will have to face. Its objective is firstly to enable both Cirad and Inra to elaborate orientations and strategies. Secondly, it aims to promote the participation of French experts in international debates on food security and environmental issues, through the process of scenario building. By combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, it enhances some options that have to be chosen regarding food challenges, international trade, food supply and delivery systems and technical pathways, by taking into account their social and spatial consequences.
